SAN ANTONIO – A mother and her children were robbed at gunpoint at a West Side apartment complex.

The incident happened just after 4:30 a.m. Monday at the Lucero Apartments on Acme Road near W. Commerce Street.
Police said the woman was heading to work with her children. When she got inside her car, she was surrounded by four men pointing AK-47s at her. They ordered her and her children out of the car and attempted to steal it, but the suspects were unable to get the car started. During the robbery, the woman told her kids to run and hide.
The suspects took her cell phone and took off on foot.
The woman flagged down to a man also heading to work to call for help. She went to retrieve her kids from some nearby bushes.
Police are still investigating.
